FAQs

General Questions

How do I cancel my order?

Orders can be canceled up to 48 hours after being placed. All cancellations will incur a 10% processing fee, regardless of the cancellation date. Please email us at info@accidentalpeonist.com with “CANCEL MY ORDER” in the subject line.

What happens if there’s an act of nature?

Our flowers are subject to the unpredictability of nature. In the event of unforeseen weather conditions (such as a damaging frost), we reserve the right to cancel orders. In such cases, you will receive a full refund.

What if I can't pick up on your regular pickup day?

Please email us at info@accidentalpeonist.com to discuss your needs as sometimes we are able to accommodate special requests.

Can I request specific colors?

Our bouquets are grower’s choice- handpicked from what’s blooming most beautifully that day. We can’t promise specific varieties or colors, but we can promise they’ll be gorgeous.

Can I order flowers as a gift?

Please visit our SHOP page to purchase a Gift Bouquet. Purchase anytime; delivery is during peony season (late May/early June). Gift bouquets include delivery in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Last year your flowers sold out before I could place an order. How can I ensure I get some this year?

We’re a small operation and peonies sell out fast, so please order early. Email subscribers are the first to know when ordering opens each spring and get early access. You can also follow us on Instagram. Because blooms are weather-driven, we sometimes have more stems than pre-sold. Reach out to us at info@accidentalpeonist.com to check for cancellations or restocks.

How do I care for my blooms?

Here are a few tips to help your blooms last longer:

1. Change the Water Daily

Fresh, clean water (lots of it!) is key to extending vase life. Replace or top off the water in your vase every day.

2. Trim the Stems

Cut your stems at a 45 degree angle when you get your blooms home and re-cut them every few days, to help flowers absorb water more efficiently.

3. Keep Vases Clean

Always wash vases with soap and water before use.

4. Remove Foliage Below the Waterline

Leaves sitting in water decay quickly and promote bacterial growth. Strip any foliage below the water line on your vase, to keep the water fresh.

5. Avoid Heat & Direct Sunlight

Place flowers in a cool spot, away from direct sunlight, heat vents, and radiators. Avoid placing them near ripening fruit, which releases ethylene gas that shortens bloom life.

For faster blooming, place buds in a warm area with indirect sunlight.
